John Howard Society Of Fredericton:
The John Howard Society of Fredericton. is a community-based organization. This independent and voluntary organization has been working in and around Fredericton since 1955. They address the problems of crime and the criminal justice system in creative and progressive ways.
Mission:
The purpose of this organization is to assist inmates, ex-offenders, and those considered to be a risk to offend (due to their economic, emotional, social, or other factors) in their attempts to re-enter mainstream society.
Their opinions:
People have the right to live in a safe and peaceful society as well as the responsibility implied by this right to respect the law.
Every person has worth and the right to be treated with dignity, equity, fairness and compassion when involved with the criminal justice process.
All people have the potential to become responsible citizens.
Every person has the right and the responsibility to be informed about -and involved in- the criminal justice process.
Justice is best served through measures that resolve conflicts, repair harm and restore peaceful relations in society.
Independent, autonomous non-government organizations have a vital role in the criminal justice process.

My mom worked at the John Howard in Saint John when we lived there. She was just a receptionist but i was in there sometimes. A lot of people go there usually after they get out of jail. John Howard provides houses for the inmates with a certain amount of parol officers depending on how many inmates are there or what they are capable of doing. They can go to the John Howard headquarters for counselling or activities such as painting.
